The Clubhouse Program is modeled after the Fountain
House Clubhouse in New York City established over 50 years ago.
The Clubhouse is set up on the basis of a “work ordered” day
and a “social/recreational” evening model.
Work units enable the Clubhouse to sustain itself.
Members and staff work together within the Clubhouse units at
meaningful work that is necessary to maintain the Clubhouse.
The work with in each unit helps develop and refine work habits
required to seek, obtain and maintain gainful employment.
The work units are developed by the Clubhouse members and staff and
may include:
-
Kitchen
-
Education
-
Clerical
-
Employment
-
Outreach
-
Recreations and Socialization Activities
Members, along side staff, participate in the various
work units at their choice.
Members are actively involved in their own rehabilitation process,
as it is their decision on when, how often and what they participate in.
Referrals can be written or phoned to the Clubhouse
by a family member, health care provider, or self.
The Clubhouse is a community support service for
adults, at least 18 years of age, who are diagnosed with a serious and
persistent mental illness.
This program is supported by the Niagara County
Department of Mental Health, Alcohol
and Substance Abuse Program, and New York State Office of Mental Health.
