June
4, 2010, The Crowne Plaza and Marlin Art Galleries out of New
York City became the stage of this June’s bi-annual event; The Art
Auction. The truck of art pulled in at 3 p.m. and the night was
about to unfold. Volunteers from Mission came to help unload over 150
pieces of all types of art and memorabilia. Marlin Art was ready to
help Community Missions have an night of great food, friends and art
along with a way to give back to the Niagara Falls community.
As the
guest began to arrive they registered with Natalie, Patricia and
Raffika and enter the Crowne’s Ballroom. The art was around the entire
room and auctioneer was greeting guests as they entered. Among artists
like Peter Max, Kinkade, Wooster Scott and many more were people who
not only loved art but also the people Community Missions serves. With
the art auction numbers and booklets in hand, they walked amongst great
artists and enjoyed a basket and live auction accompanied by
great food and a chocolate fountain. The REACH division also brought
and displayed some of the art created by our consumers as well .
The night allowed many art collectors to buy a new piece or two for their homes and offices while assisting the Mission in reaching its goals of helping the hungry and the homeless. We say thank you to everyone who sponsored, attended and donated prizes to the Auctions along with those who volunteered for the event. Each dollar raised will assist in keeping those who are hungry fed and those who are homeless a place to lay their head. Thank you again to everyone involved!
