Program: Community Kitchen
Duties & Responsibilities: Prepare and serve meals as scheduled and posted cooperatively with other cooks. Maintain kitchen dining area and monitor residents when eating. Take necessary steps to keep CMI kitchen in a clean, sanitary, and orderly manner at all times. Prepare meals, along with other cooks, in keeping with posted menus. Menu changes must first be authorized. Always observe hygiene rules when handling food. Always cover long hair with a hair net. No smoking. Prepare lunch meals for Community Kitchen and lunch and dinner for residents. Serve food to all in a fair, pleasant, courteous, and appealing manner. Seconds are served the last five minutes after all others have been served. Keep record of persons served each mealtime. Monitor dining area, bathrooms, and food pantry daily for cleanliness and observe resident eating habits, manners, and behavior. Report all concerns. Maintain kitchen and equipment to meet health department standards. Wash pots and pans and other kitchen utensils. Operate dishwasher. Sweep and mop the floor. Be familiar with the operation of fire extinguishers. Clean grill after using. Receive food and supply deliveries, and post on inventory. Store all food, supplies, and leftovers properly in covered containers. Stock shelves and rotate goods. Report food shortages immediately. Keep storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers orderly, clean and in good repair. No medications or personal property allowed in refrigerators. Keep the cooking area and kitchen office clean and orderly. Begin the necessary preparations for the next meal, i.e. take frozen food out to thaw; start baking. Assist and assign duties to volunteers when needed, i.e., cooking, washing dishes, pots and pans. Check to make sure oven and all burners are turned off daily; check to make sure all storage areas, freezers and coolers are locked before you leave kitchen. Wash kitchen linens at least twice weekly. Perform other related duties as requested.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience: Preferred High School Diploma. 1-3 years experience in food prepartion for at least 50 people.
Salary Range: $33,280 - $37,500, Annually
Hours: Full Time
